The HIL however seems to have been hurt pretty badly, 250 less range is big deal. Then again it will be less expensive to mount so maybe it's not that bad of a nerf. In the meantime, some mods (SS+, for example) do add some skills that boost fighters. Or, for quick fixes to a small subset of the fighter problems: maybe fighters shouldn't count towards that 25 ship limit? To install a mod, download it and unzip it into the "mods" directory.
